Project Experiment || was all about experiments.
The first assignment was to experiment with paint
on paper and then experiment with it under
the copy machine. This was the result.
The next assignment was to make a self portrait
with a craft technique. I used the same photo of
myself as I did with the assignment of the self
portrait with tape-art, that is shown as next
assignment. I used the tie dyed cloth from the
year before (what you can see on ‘Project Experiment |‘)
With yarn I went through the cloth. I choose for
the colours black, grey and white because I used
the same picture for my life size self portrait and
the self portrait with tape-art, that is shown below.
The next assignment was to make a self portrait
with tape-art. This is the result.
For this assignment I had to make a life size
self portrait. It is a cloth, tie dyed in tea. I painted
myself, in the tape-art technique, onto it. Because
of the year before I made it like this. I was going
through a tough period and this year I had only
joy and happiness. My smiling face is from this
year foreward. Tears are dripping down
form the years behind me.
For the extreme wearable object I chose
the same subject as for my life size self portrait.
The year before I felt like I was being choked,
held back. I couldn’t breathe. I was acting
strong for the outside world, but inside,
it felt like my emotions were overflowing.
There is a darker story behind it, but that
is for everyone to fill in themselves.
